Nancy Prater

Nancy Kay Prater is excited to again be joining our production of Rob Gardner’s “Lamb of God” as the performance conductor. She and her husband, Michael, are members of the Greasewood Ward in the Tucson West Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and they love raising their family in the beautiful Sonoran desert!

Mrs. Prater graduated magna cum laude from Brigham Young University, earning her Bachelor of Music degree in Secondary Choral Music Education.  During her time at BYU she studied voice under Jennifer Welch-Babidge, Ruth Christensen, and J. Arden Hopkin, and performed in operas and opera scenes under the direction of Lawrence Vincent.  She also gained experience performing with BYU’s renowned choirs, in recitals, and oratorio performances, and student teaching at Orem High School mentored by Sterling Keyes.

Nancy frequently performs as a soprano soloist, prior to moving to Arizona in 2018, she was the Dallas Millennial Choirs and Orchestras (DMCO) Youth Choirs Conductor’s Assistant, maintained an active private voice studio as an Associate Member of NATS, and sang Soprano in DMCO’s Grand Chorus. She has conducted various ensembles over the past two decades, favorites including many years directing an annual choral and orchestral Christmas musical celebration and Easter productions of Handel’s Messiah in Richardson, Texas. She is grateful for the opportunity to share her testimony of Christ by participating a fourth time directing this beautiful Lamb of God production in Tucson.
